Male Lion - Masai Mara, Kenya

This male lion was just a short distance from our safari vehicle on the savanna of the Masai Mara in Kenya. He looked towards us at first then looked past us at something more interesting to him. He was a beautiful animal who made this incredible sound. It was just captivating to be there with him. That was the type of feeling we got over and over again on the safari seeing the animals where they really live and die.

The photo was taken with a Canon EOS 40D, EF17-40mm f/4L lens, 1/125 sec at f/16, ISO 250 on SanDisk Extreme IV Digital Film.
