Felix

I’ve started to do some architectural photography for a local contractor who designs and builds beautiful homes (pictures of one house to come over the weekend). The property on which that house sits is beautiful, rustic with many Oak trees and lovely gardens. While I was taking the exterior photographs, Felix, Amy’s cat was following me around diligently. Amy lives in this house.

As I was packing my photo gear into the car to leave, Felix climbed this tree, settled into the “V” where the trunk splits, crossed his front legs and watched over the property. He was so cute up there, I got my camera out again to take this photograph.

This is a photo I took of Phil Mickelson during a practice round at the 2010 AT&T Pro-Am in Pebble Beach. I’m a big fan of his and it was really exciting to be able to be out there on a practice day and photograph him. But what makes this even better is our cousins Gary and Lori come out here each year and volunteer at the tournament. This year, Lori was a walking scorer for Phil’s group on Saturday’s round. I had this shot and two others printed up and I asked her to give them to Phil and one photo of Phil and his caddy “Bones” to give to Bones as well. I also had another set of prints done which Lori asked Phil to autograph for us, which he very graciously did. So, the next time you come visit us here, you’ll find this image, signed by Phil, hanging on our wall. Thanks Phil, it was a great win this year — and — Thanks Lori for getting the autographs.

I came upon this Sea Lion asleep on the beach. At first, I was concerned that it might have been injured or was not alive, but, as I got closer, it let me know just how alive it was…

As the wind blows hard and rain threatens here on the Monterey Peninsula this morning, I thought of our trip to Hawaii and how nice it would be if we were sitting there now watching another Hawaiian sunrise, signaling the start of a warm and beautiful day. So here is another shot from that trip last October.

Flying Surf

Flying Surf

The wind makes the surf fly as the waves crest.

After last month’s storm, the wind blew the surf’s cresting waves, resembling wings in the air.
